THE GAME OF CONSUMPTION - BRENNAN FOURNIER

Submitted by: Brennan Fournier

A look upon the way our social economy is creating a society of overworked and underpaid, angry people. We overwork ourselves in this game of money to buy things we really don't need, disabling us from spending more time exploring life and all its possibilities, and consequentially spending less time developing our inner selves. Soon we are in dept and owing money for all of that junk we keep buying, therefore trapping us in the The Game of Consumption.

It is important to think critically about the economic system we currently live in, and realize it not only doesn't work, but is counter productive to the existence of our species as a whole.

LYRICS:

Always the same, when thinking alone
"Get out of this hell to where I belong"
Yet there never seems to be a good time.

In that time it will hurt, you'll continue to blame
Just going around in circles while you're playing the game.
You never can count on what you already have.

If life is all work, none of it play
Then where will I lie at the end of the day?
To suffer and wonder what junk I can have.

In this culture of wealth, difficult to find,
Is another human being with that same state of mind.
We all are stuck in a man made arcade.

In this game that we play, ambition is best
Since without every moment's another moment depressed.
Seems it's not a skill we all seem to have.

If life is all work, none of it play
Then where will I lie at the end of the day?
To suffer and wonder what junk I can have.

Maybe I'll fly to outer space.
Take my chances with the stars, find the meaning for what we are.
Then I think why I am here and it's for the other hearts
Not for control of all with fear.

If life is all work, none of it play
Then where are my thoughts at the end of the day?
Just suffering and wondering what stuff I should have.

When life is all work, there's no room to play
So when you can sleep at the end of the day.
Just owing for all the stuff that you thought you should have.
